Kanban Boards
The board shows a project's tickets as cards in status columns, so you can see what is in flight and move work along by dragging it. This article covers the columns, moving tickets, and the filters that keep a busy board readable.
Applies to: Professional plan. Requires the pm:tickets:view permission.
Prerequisites: Tickets & Backlog
Opening the board
Open a project and select the Board tab, or go to the board directly and choose a project from the Select project… box.
The columns
The board has five fixed columns:
- Backlog — not started
- To Do — picked up for the current period
- In Progress — someone is on it
- In Review — done and waiting on a check
- Done — finished. Tickets set to Closed also appear here, so nothing vanishes.
Above the columns, a summary bar counts tickets, how many are in progress, how many are done, the point total, and an overall percentage complete. Each column header shows its own count, and you can collapse a column you are not using.
Moving a ticket
Drag a card into another column and its status changes as you drop it. A toast confirms the move and offers Undo if you dropped it in the wrong place.
Dragging is not the only way. Each card has a Move to menu that does the same thing from the keyboard. On a phone the board shows one column at a time and uses that menu instead.
Changing several tickets at once
Tick the checkbox on each card, or use a column's select-all. A bulk bar appears at the bottom with two menus:
- Move to… — set the status on everything selected
- Set priority… — set the priority on everything selected
Clear selection empties the selection without changing anything.
Filtering the board
Five controls sit in the toolbar:
- A sprint selector, which defaults to All tickets. Pick a sprint to see only that sprint's work.
- A search box matching title, ticket number and description. Press / to jump to it.
- Critical, High, Medium and Low priority chips.
- Assignee chips, one per person on the board, plus All.
- Show Points, which puts the story points on each card.
Three other keyboard shortcuts work anywhere on the board: N creates a ticket, R refreshes, and Esc clears the search.
Work-in-progress limits
A column with a work-in-progress limit set shows its count against that limit and turns red when the limit is passed. Limits are stored per project and appear read-only under the project's Settings tab.
There is currently no screen for setting a work-in-progress limit or for renaming a column. The board's five columns and their names are fixed.
Tip: Read the board right to left. A pile-up in In Review means finished work is not being checked, and starting more in the left-hand columns makes it worse.
